Hello! I am Emily Jacobs (she/her). I am a licensed massage therapist (LMT) in DC/MD. I attended the Potomac Massage Training Institute (PMTI) in Washington, DC and graduated in July 2011. While at PMTI I received my academic and practical training in an array of bodywork modalities with a focus on Swedish circulatory massage and deep tissue techniques.
Since graduation I have focused on studying myofascial release (MFR) specifically the method developed and taught by John F. Barnes, and have successfully completed over 90 continuing education hours in this work. I find the Barnes approach to MFR to be extremely beneficial to all clients, especially those suffering from back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, or chronic pain, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
In July 2021 I began taking neuromuscular courses through Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) to expand my work beyond MFR and massage. I have since completed over 80 continuing education hours learning how to clinically address and problem solve pain and dysfunction.
I consider myself a semi-retired triathlete having completed 6 Ironman distance triathlons as well as a handful of Half Ironman, and Olympic distance races. I have stepped away from triathlon racing, and currently enjoy staying fit with weight lifting and cycling.
